Bucyrus-Monighan Dragline Model 15W
Description
A photo I found on Google search of a Bucyrus-Monighan dragline like the one used for dredging at Dayton during the early 1940s. That was the dragline of which you could see the boom and bucket in the photo of the barge and mill posted by Scott on 11-17-07. The thing really walked to move about therefore gaining the name walking monighan. Two cams lowered a foot on each side, causing the monighan to rise and to move ahead or back a few feet. People came from afar to see it work. Photo and info. came from Bucyrus History. Photographer is unknown.

only one was made, it was the largest dragline at the time in the early forties.was built for a coal mine in Kentucky. was sold and moved to work on the st lawerence seaway when it was constructed, I don't know what happened to it was probably scrapped. Bucyrus was making bigger machines at the time, so was marion,page,p&h, when the 15w was working in coal it was called THE GENTLEMAN.
